Getting started

What is Mikrodius?

Cloud RADIUS for ISPs, RT/RW nets and hotspot operators, and the five things you work with.

Mikrodius is a RADIUS server you do not have to host. Your MikroTik routers ask Mikrodius whether a PPPoE or hotspot login is allowed, and Mikrodius answers: with the right speed, the right limits, and a no when the account has expired or run out of quota.

What it does

  • Checks every PPPoE and hotspot login against your subscribers and plans.
  • Enforces speed, expiry, data quota, online time and the number of devices per account.
  • Applies changes to people who are already online: a new plan changes their speed right away, a suspension disconnects them.
  • Records every session and how much each subscriber used.
  • Generates hotspot vouchers in bulk.
  • Connects each router to the cloud over its own encrypted tunnel, set up with one command.

What it does not do

Mikrodius is the RADIUS layer only. It does not collect payments from your customers, send invoices or reminders, or keep their addresses and phone numbers. You decide who has paid, in the dashboard or in your own billing app, and Mikrodius makes the network follow that decision. It also does not manage your routers beyond the setup command.

The five concepts

WorkspaceOne isolated network: its own NAS, plans and subscribers. Most operators need one; use more to keep separate networks or clients apart. Usernames only have to be unique inside a workspace.
NASA device that sends logins to Mikrodius, usually a MikroTik router running your PPPoE server or hotspot. A NAS must be added in the dashboard before it can connect.
PlanWhat you sell: "Home 20 Mbps", "Hotspot 1 Day". Speed, limits and validity.
SubscriberOne login (PPPoE or hotspot): username, password, plan, and an optional expiry date.
SessionOne time a subscriber was online: when, on which NAS, and how much data they used.

Where to go next

New here? The quickstart takes you from sign-up to a working login in about fifteen minutes. If you run a billing app and want it to drive Mikrodius, read Connect your billing app.
